The most successful people have several things in common. One of them is that they start their day early while no one else is awake. (hey, if it’s good enough for Richard Branson, it’s good enough for me!)
Like Richard, I start my day at 5 am. I have one hour to myself before the rest of the house is awake. There is a rythmn and ritual to this part of my day that is not included in the rest of the day because there are demands from other people, from the business, etc. This time each morning helps me get centered and ready for the day.
This hour includes my COFFEE, daily devotion, gratitude journaling, affirmations, reading. Then I work out. Every day! (endorphins are for real, the curb anxiety, depression and your brain works better when you’re moving, so get moving!)
I know jump-starting a routine doesn’t usually work so I suggest 3 small things you can do immediately to get your going:
1. find a place in your home that is comfy and can be solely yours for a few minutes (do not stay in bed) set it up to be inviting for you when you wake up in the morning
2. set up your coffee to brew the night before
3. wake up 10 minutes earlier than you do now
3. do not check emails/social media when you first wake up
As you feel more comfortable with this (after a couple of weeks) do another 10 minutes earlier and then another. This time will become coveted in your day if you do it right, and you will wonder how you ever got along without it.
